GD MUX / Telecommunications Network Infrastructure Field Installation Technician
GD MUX Telecom is seeking Telecom Network Infrastructure Field Installation Technicians to become part of our team! You will assist with the installation of various telecom equipment, primarily fiber optic backbone OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers) and amplifier nodes.

GD MUX Telecommunication Network Infrastructure services include: Deployment (Surveys, Engineering, Installation, Provisioning/Commissioning, Testing), Decommissioning, Fiber Optic Characterization, Logistics (Warehousing, Hot Staging, Last Mile Delivery), Migration Support (Capacity & Software Upgrades, MOP Creation, Remote Maintenance Window support), and Staffing Support (Project Managers, Detail & Field Engineers, Tech Support)
- Responsible for installation of Telecom Network Infrastructure equipment, system cabling (DC Power and Ground, DS3, Fiber Optic frames/chassis/components)
- Provide installation services that exceed minimum industry quality standards and perform Self- Audits on completed activities
- Responsible for completing inventory, provide data status reports and follow up on outstanding issues on daily activities
- Extensive to customer locations throughout the United States
- Provide and use basic, essential hand tools as required
- Perform high level of craftsmanship in securing equipment, running and securing system cable (terminating power and ground cabling at the equipment and fuse/ breaker panels)
- Attention to detail in the thoroughness of installation, while interpreting project engineering documentation, placement of equipment, system cabling, and creating labels to identify origination and termination points
- Proper handling of equipment/circuit packs in regards to ESD (Electro Static Discharge) precautions
- Responsible for controlling equipment and material (receiving and managing installation related material and equipment for each project)
- Respond to inquiries from Project Management (internal and customer accounts regarding the status of daily activities)
- Provide a quick, organized response regarding issues with equipment, material shortages, and customer requests
- Responsible for directly handling on-site management of customer premises ("Good Housekeeping")
- Stay abreast of industry installation and quality standards and practices
- Demonstrate a good use of customer service skills to provide excellent customer experience on every installation project
- Utilize efficiencies in multitasking (project preparation, execution, and completion) to minimize re-work and/or return to projects due to uncompleted activities
- Work with Materials Coordinator in the accuracy and efficiency of shipping project related materials
- Manage acquired travel and lodging expenses
- Maintain accurate record of receipts for submission on weekly time sheets
- Submit an electronic time sheet, by designated time, each week
- Knowledge in optical and data transport systems
- Knowledgeable in Telecom Industry Quality Standards of Installation
- Excellent customer service while working at customer facilities
- Ability to work in near live functioning networks
- Excellent problem solving and ability to handle rapid paced technical environment
- Analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and decisive
- Able to interpret project documentation
- Able to work in an organized and efficient manner while multitasking
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, Microsoft Visio and Adobe reader
- Brady labeling skills a plus
- Associates degree in Telecommunications and/or minimum of 1-3 years of related field installation experience
- Bachelor degree from an accredited university a plus

- Salary $16 to $22 Hourly, eligible for overtime as project’s require

GD MUX / Telecommunications Network Infrastructure Field Tester
GD MUX is seeking Telecom Network Infrastructure Field Tester Technicians to become part of our team! You will assist with the Provisioning, Commissioning, and Testing of various telecom equipment, primarily fiber optic backbone OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers) and amplifier nodes.

GD MUX Telecommunication Network Infrastructure services include: Deployment (Surveys, Engineering, Installation, Provisioning/Commissioning, Testing), Decommissioning, Fiber Optic Characterization, Logistics (Warehousing, Hot Staging, Last Mile Delivery), Migration Support (Capacity & Software Upgrades, MOP Creation, Remote Maintenance Window support), and Staffing Support (Project Managers, Detail & Field Engineers, Tech Support)
- Load and confirm telecomm network equipment provisioning and commissioning configuration parameters. Validate functionality using optical and data testing equipment
- Support live OPTS and EMOP procedures to add new hardware (chassis/shelves, cards, and/or pluggables). Conduct testing to validate functionality
- Responsible for completing inventory, provide data status reports and follow up on outstanding issues on daily activities
- Perform preventative or reactive maintenance to network equipment
- Use test equipment to perform circuit testing such as: FC-100, FC-200, FC-400, FC-800, 10G, 1GbE, OC-192, OC-3, OC-48 etc
- Working knowledge of fiber optic cleaning and testing, using OTDR, light source/meter
- Assist Installation technicians in completing projects when necessary to meet customer expectations
- Proper recordkeeping on each job to include daily status reports, redlines, and quality audits as needed
- Attend training and shadowing programs available for new equipment to help expand knowledge of our vendor equipment
- Manage acquired travel and lodging expenses
- Maintain an accurate record of receipts for submission on weekly basis
- Submit electronic Timesheet (by designated time) each week
- A college graduate from an accredited university and/or minimum of 1-3 years of related experience. Bachelor degree from an accredited university a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be adaptable to changing environments
- Must be willing to travel extensively
- Ability to retain large quantities of information
- Ability to work well with others
- Levelheaded with keen decision making skills
- Strong computer skills including MS Office and database experience
- Working field knowledge of SONET/DWDM based systems, a plus
